IDENTIFICATION
A
Shed & Fence Coating, for use on Rough Sawn Wood, containing
water based emulsion copolymer
COMPOSITION/INFORMATION
ON INGREDIENTS
Organic
and inorganic pigments in water based copolymer emulsion.
None of the ingredients are classified as hazardous under
the regulations.
HAZARDS
IDENTIFICATION OF THE PREPARATION
This
product is not classified as hazardous under these regulations
and so warning labels and safety data sheets are not mandatory.
However, section 6 of the Health and Safety at Work Act requires
that information is provided about any risk which may arise
from the use of a substance at work and the following information
is provided accordingly.
FIRST
AID MEASURES
If
in doubt or symptoms persist or are severe, seek medical attention.
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person:
EYES:
Remove
contact lenses; hold eyelids apart and flush immediately with
plenty of water or neutral saline solution.
SKIN:
Leading
to coughing or irritation of the mucous membranes. Keep warm
and at rest in the recovery position. Obtain medical
attention if there are any signs of respiratory distress or
lung damage.
INGESTION:
Do
not induce vomiting because of the danger of aspiration and
lung damage, but if a person begins to vomit, turn over into
the face. If conscious, wash out mouth and give milk
or water to drink.
FIRE
FIGHTING MEASURES
This
product is not flammable and will not support combustion,
but if involved in a fire will produce dense black smoke containing
hazardous decomposition products of combustion. Do not
allow run of from fire fighting to enter drains or watercourses.
ACCIDENTAL
RELEASE MEASURES
Mop
up with absorbent material or transfer liquid into a salvage
vessel. Keep out of drains and watercourses or inform
Water Company or Environmental Agency.
HANDLING
AND STORAGE
Not
hazardous to store. Keep in a cool, dry, well-ventilated
frost-free place away from children. Do not hang containers
on a hook.
EXPOSURE
CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
Take
common sense precautions to avoid splashes or spray entering
mouth or eyes. Wear a mask and eye protection when necessary.
If required, wear gloves and overalls to keep skin contact
to a minimum. Wash after use.
PHYSICAL
AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
A
low odour liquid miscible with water. Relative density
1.01. pH 8.5 to 9
STABILITY
AND REACTIVITY
Stable
– In protracted fires, material may dry out sufficiently
to burn and produce black choking smoke.
TOXICOLOGICAL
INFORMATION
No
data is available on the preparation. Not harmful, but
the following symptoms may follow exposure:
EYES:
Soreness ands redness
SKIN:
Prolonged
repeated contact may cause de-fatting of the skin and problems
with sensitive skin.
INHALATION:
Breathing
spray may irritate the mucous membranes and cause headache
and nausea.
INGESTION:
Not
harmful - but avoid.
ECOLOGICAL
INFORMATION
No
data available on the preparation but will cause discolouration
to watercourses, so release should, be avoided.
DISPOSAL
CONSIDERATIONS
Control
wastes – do not dispose of indiscriminately. Insufficient
quantities obtain the services of Waste Disposal Contractor
to comply with the ‘Duty of Care’ required by
the Environmental Protection Act.
TRANSPORT
INFORMATION
Not
classified for movement by road, rail, sea or air.
REGULATORY
INFORMATION
The
Health and Safety at Work Act.The Environment Protection Act
and Duty of Care Regulations. No label is required under the
C.H.I.P. regulations, but the safety phrases S2, S23, S26
and S51 are normally used.
